Our Mission

Reach Out and Read prepares America’s youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together.

Reach Out and Read is a national nonprofit organization that promotes early literacy by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud in pediatric exam rooms across the nation. Doctors and nurses know that growing up healthy means growing up with books.  The Reach Out and Read program provides the tools to help promote children’s developmental skills and later school success.

Reach Out and Read Washington State

Reach Out and Read Washington State is a Regional Office of Reach Out and Read. Launched in 2007, Reach Out and Read Washington State is supporting a statewide network of Reach Out and Read programs that are part of Washington’s Early Learning System.
