Welcome to Reach Out and Read Washington State!
Dear Friends-
We are so glad you stopped by our website. We are passionate about the work we do, and so proud of our partners in medical offices across the state. We think the best way to start to get to know our work is by watching a quick (less than 5 minute) video we put together just for you. Please click on the picture on the right of this screen and Watch the Story of Reach Out and Read in Washington!
We hope it intrigues you so that you dig deeper into our website, and think about ways to get involved to support children and families. We hope to hear from you! We also encourage you to review our Reach Out and Read Washington Newsletters, and to sign up to receive them in the future.
Today we are also asking for your help. Please contact your state legislators NOW to ask them to continue funding for Reach Out and Read in the state budget. The Legislature will resume session in January, and will continue to work to cut the budget at that time. Please speak up for young children, and our future. Read more.

Pediatrician co-founders of Reach Out and Read Washington State
Reach Out and Read prepares America’s youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together.
Growing up healthy means growing up with books. That’s why doctors and nurses at Reach Out and Read (ROR) programs across Washington state give brand new books to young children when they get a checkup. By talking with parents and caregivers about the importance of reading aloud, medical providers give families the information, support and materials they need to help promote their children’s developmental skills and help them be ready for success in school.
